KULAI: Three underage girls suspected of being victims of a sex syndicate have been rescued by the police here.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said that the local girls, aged between 13 and 15, were found during an 'Ops Noda' raid on Monday (Nov 8).
"Following a tip-off, the police from the Kulai police headquarters raided a beauty centre on Jalan Air Hitam, Kulai at about 2.40pm on Monday.
"We arrested an Indonesia woman and a local man, aged 29 and 38 years old respectively, during the raid. They are suspected to be involved in prostitution activities.
"We also found three underage girls who are believed to be victims of sex exploitation. The victims have been rescued and brought to the Kulai police headquarters," he said in a statement here.
He noted that the police have also seized three mobile phones, a pack of condoms, a roll of tissue papers, a towel and cash amounting to RM534.
"The suspects were also brought to the Kulai police headquarters for further investigation. Urine tests were conducted on them and one of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine," he said.
He said that the suspects are being remanded for four days starting from Tuesday (Nov 9) until Friday (Nov 12).
The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act, Section 372B and Section 373(1)(b) of the Penal Code, Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act and Section 107 of the Local Government Act.
