The man was discovered at 9.25 am in Southfields, South London, just over half a mile from the site of the world-famous tennis championship.
Locals reported that he was found by bin men as they collected the rubbish from an estate in the area.
Hugo, 32, who lives in the area, told The Sun Online: "We heard a lot of police cars around...we thought it was for the tennis as it's been very busy here.
"I saw the rubbish truck at the end of the road covered with something so nobody could see it.

"As soon as they covered the truck they came with a white and yellow tent...that's when we knew it was something huge."
He said that the estate's maintenance man had told him that he and the driver of the truck had found the body during the bin collection.
Hugo added that the discovery combined with last week's car crash at a nearby school, which claimed the lives of two eight-year-old girls, have left residents "alarmed by so many deaths around us."
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers were called at 9.25am on Monday, July 10 to Chobham Gardens, SW19.
"The body of a man was reported to have been found at the location.
"Officers have attended and a forensic scene is in place.
"The death is being treated as unexpected and unexplained."
