KUCHING: Irked by accusation of money politics following Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s big win in the state elections, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said such claims should stop or legal action may be pursued.
The Progressive Democratic Party president said the claims were unfounded and only caused restlessness among the people.
“Unless these baseless speculations stop, legal actions may be resorted to in order to stop such fake news that causes a lot of misunderstanding,” he said on Monday (Dec 20).
PDP is one of the four component parties in GPS and the coalition had secured 76 out of the 82 seats in the Dec 18 polls.
Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, won the Dudong seat in his first state election outing.
He said allegations of money politics without evidence had disparaged election campaigners and party workers.
Tiong said Dudong constituents were free to ask the people of Bintulu if they had been paid for their votes during the past five parliamentary elections which he had contested.
“I hope the people will continue to trust and support GPS because of our track record. We are able to drive development and improve the people’s living.
“Through cooperation between the government and people, we can look forward to the future of creating a better Dudong, a better Sibu and a better Sarawak,” he said.
