KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan Umno’s decision to cut ties with PAS in the state will not change come the 15th General Election (GE15) and it will contest all seats, said its information chief Datuk Zawawi Othman.

       He said that Kelantan Umno does not intend to reconcile with PAS as long as three personalities - PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic), vice president Datuk Nik Amar Abdullah and Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor - remain in the party.

       “In 2019, we agreed to join forces with PAS, all for the sake of Muslim and Malay unity. But their leaders continued to insult Umno. Umno’s leaders never said bad stuff about PAS. On January 22 this year, Kelantan Umno decided to break ties with PAS," said Zawawi.

       “We have no issues with PAS. But as long as it is headed by these three loudmouths with no principles, we will not work with them,” added Zawawi during the Umno general assembly debates.

       Zawawi said Kelantan Umno is motivated to win control of the state, even though it has been under PAS for 32 years.

       “We will contest all 45 state seats and 14 parliamentary constituencies in Kelantan. We really want to see Umno and Barisan Nasional controlling the state. We have been under PAS since 1990. That is a long 32 years, the same age as my child," he said.

       “God willing, under Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, we will be able to wrest the state from PAS,” added Zawawi, who is also the Pasir Putih Umno division chief.
