MELAKA: The operation manager of a digital firm could not be any happier when Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali gave him the opportunity to explain how an air filter system could minimise the impact of diseases.

       M. Ramesh from Kuala Lumpur said he had attempted to meet key government officials to explain about the air filter that could help protect against the transmission of airborne viruses.

       “I just tried my luck when sending out random emails on the benefits of having an air filter in public areas and in homes.

       “The only person who granted me an immediate appointment was the affable and humble Melaka Chief Minister,” he said when met after their meeting at Seri Bendahara yesterday.

       Ramesh, 51, said he quickly arranged for the CEO of a South Korean company to accompany him to the meeting.

       “I never expected the Chief Minister and his staff to be so courteous although I am a total stranger.He listened attentively about the product and was very supportive,” he said.

       Ramesh said the CEO was also impressed with the Chief Minister’s gesture and pledged to look into setting up a business hub in the state and provide job opportunities to locals.

       “A humble request to meet the Chief Minister has turned into a good prospect with the South Korean mulling investing in Melaka,” he said.

       Ramesh said he started dealing in air filters following the impact of the pandemic on public safety and health.

       “During the meeting, the Chief Minister said the state government will consider placing several filters at public areas and eateries. I have also decided to sponsor a few units at welfare homes for the benefit of the residents there,” he said.

       Ramesh added that in view of the coming Chinese New Year, the South Korean company would hold a festive charity event in Melaka together with the state government to bring some joy to the people.
