PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister has pushed for cash vouchers to be handed out as quickly as possible to 708,223 recipients of the Covid-19 Special Assistance (BKC) who do not have bank accounts, says the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
A total of 10 million recipients will receive their payment for the financial package from Monday (Sept 6).
According to the PMO, Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob (pic) monitored the payment process that took place nationwide through an online platform.
“In the session, the Prime Minister had asked the Finance Ministry to ensure the smooth distribution of the assistance especially for those in rural areas, who have limited access to banking facilities, and those without bank accounts,” PMO said.
Ismail Sabri also interacted with the recipients at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches in Putrajaya, Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis and Johor.
“The Prime Minister also obtained a report directly from Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who was on the field and had personally inspected the payment process at the Putrajaya BSN.
“At the same time, he received updates on the BKC distribution process from Deputy Finance Minister 1 Mohd Shahar Abdullah who was monitoring the payment process at Triang BSN, Bera, Pahang,” it add
