Rishi Sunak gives press conference after Rwanda Bill win
Rishi Sunak warned the Lords against meddling with his Rwanda Bill after a major Commons victory.
The Prime Minister called on unelected peers to "do the right thing" and not "try to frustrate the will of the people''.
Mr Sunak was speaking at a Downing Street press conference after his Safety of Rwanda Bill passed its third reading last night with a majority of 44.
He said: "It's now time for the Lords to pass this Bill. This is an urgent national priority.
"The treaty with Rwanda is signed and the legislation which deems Rwanda a safe country has been passed unamended in our elected chamber.
"There is now only one question. Will the opposition in the appointed House of Lords try and frustrate the will of the people as expressed by the elected House? Or will they get on board and do the right thing?"

READ MORE: Rishi Sunak sees off Tory rebellion as Rwanda Bill clears Commons in major win
It comes after the Prime Minister saw off Tory rebels last night as the Safety of Rwanda Bill passed its third reading.
Just 11 Conservative MPs voted against the legislation after around 60 had backed amendments aimed at toughening it up.
But there are fears left-wing peers could attempt to thwart the Bill in the upper chamber.
Lord Carlile, a former Lib Dem MP, told the Politico website: “There will be significant attempts to kill the Bill completely.”
Crossbencher Lord Kerr added that he would like to see the Bill “thrown out”.
Objections by peers would almost certainly spark a process known as parliamentary ping pong when legislation is sent back and forth between the Commons and the Lords.

Mr Sunak has made the Rwanda policy - first proposed in 2022 while Boris Johnson was in No 10 - central to his premiership as part of his pledge to stop small boats.
Under the plan, migrants who cross the Channel could be sent to Rwanda rather than being allowed to seek asylum in the UK.
The legislation, along with a recently signed treaty with Kigali, is aimed at ensuring the scheme is legally watertight after a Supreme Court ruling against it last year.
