Ireland's foreign minister will speak at a Public Policy Projects event today. During the event, Mr Coveney will discuss solutions to the Northern Ireland protocol in conversation with former Cabinet Office minister, Sir David Lidington ahead of the centenary of the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921. Mr Coveney's arrival comes amid a rise in goods shipped directly to Ireland.
According to figures from the Irish Maritime Development Office, ferry routes to Dublin from the EU have risen by 50 percent.
The figures show routes being diverted from Dublin to Britain to ports such as Le Havre, Cherbourg and Dunkirk in France.
This comes as Mr Coveney warned the EU will respond robustly if the UK triggers Article 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol.
Although talks continue between the UK and EU, Mr Coveney admitted gaps remain.
