AMPANG: The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) says it had responded to all complaints made by residents in Taman Bukit Permai.
MPAJ Public Relations Officer Norhayati Ahmad said based on their records, the only complaint MPAJ had received from residents in the area was that of a damaged drain at Jalan 1/2K.
"The cost to repair the damaged drain is estimated to be RM1mil. Based on our checks, MPAJ did not receive any complaints concerning the landslide site prior to the incident.
She was responding to claims that MPAJ had not addressed complaints regarding the slope that collapsed in the area on Thursday (March 10).
"We would like to emphasize that swift action is taken by council whenever complaints are lodged," she said in a statement on Saturday (March 12).
Norhayati hoped the explanation would clarify the issue and not cause further confusion among the people in the area.
Four people died while another victim was injured after a landslide at Taman Bukit Permai 2 on March 10.
The survivor who was pulled from the debris, 85-year-old Kim Cheng Kim, is being treated at the Ampang Hospital.
