KUALA LUMPUR: Twitter is again abuzz with pictures and videos of areas here being hit by floods after a second day of heavy rain on Tuesday (March 8) evening.

Twitter user Itsazyyatiazam shared a video with the caption: "Bangsar area has started to flood as well, near Bangsar LRT station and Bank Rakyat."

Astro Radio Traffic also shared a picture of stagnant water near Taman Desa that is causing delays from Kuchai Lama.

In Cheras, several Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) officers were seen pushing a car stuck in water.

"Water is rising up to ankle level in Kuchai Lama and one lane has to be closed," it said.

On Monday (March 7), traffic was brought to a half after a downpour caused a massive deluge in the city centre, damaging many vehicles.

The KL Fire and Rescue Department said the extraordinary rainfall within two hours led to the city's drainage system being unable to sustain water capacity.

It said that according to a report by the Meteorological Department, a rainfall of 106mm was recorded in that time – more than half of the monthly average of 200mm.
