Melaka’s teen vaccination numbers on upward trend

       MELAKA: Some 30.1% of 2.53 million students from the 12 to 17 age group have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as at Sept 25, says Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

       Of the total figure, 4.4% had completed their second dose at 687 vaccination centres (PPV) at schools, higher learning institutions, government clinics and police stations.

       “A total of 63.3% of 834,857 students aged 16 and 17 as well as 10.9% of 1.64 million students aged 12 to 15 have received their first dose,” he said after visiting the Encore Melaka PPV in conjunction with the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) for teenagers yesterday.

       Dr Mah was accompanied by Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Lim Ban Hong and state Education Department director Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.

       He added that in Melaka, 50.1% of 26,683 students aged 16 and 17 as well as 11.5% of 51,284 students aged 12 to 15, had received their first dose of the vaccine at nine public PPV involving 76 secondary schools.
