KOTA KINABALU: More people in the interior, on islands and the city outskirts will be able to get vaccinated against Covid-19 with the arrival of the second batch of the CanSino vaccine in Sabah on Wednesday (Aug 25).
A total of 43,200 shots of the single-dose vaccine arrived at 9.05am at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
Deputy State Secretary Datuk Masnah Matsalleh said these vaccines will be allocated for hard-to-reach areas as set by the Health Ministry.
She said 50,800 doses of CanSino arrived on Tuesday (Aug 24) while 252,720 doses of other vaccines including Pfizer arrived on Monday.
Sabah also received 70,000 doses of Sinovac on Wednesday, and is expected to get 86,000 more doses of CanSino on Friday (Aug 27).
Masnah, who is also Sabah Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force director, said the additional supplies would boost the immunisation rate among Sabahans.
“With these supplies, we will be able to get our people vaccinated as scheduled,” she added.
Sabah recorded 3,224 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.
