Ismail Sabri: 754 arrested nationwide for various SOP violations

       PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 754 individuals for various standard operating procedure violations nationwide.

       These include failure to register when entering premises (144), cross-border travel without permission or dining in at premises (141), not wearing face masks (135), failure to observe physical distancing (92), ferrying excess passengers (84), failure to abide by movement control order (84), premises failing to comply with SOP (11) and other offences (19).

       Of those arrested on Tuesday (June 22), 701 were issued compound notices and 53 were remanded.

       The taskforce monitoring SOP compliance checked 97,691 premises on Tuesday, including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.

       Also checked were wet markets/pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals.

       On Ops Benteng, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 44 illegal immigrants were arrested and nine land vehicles as well as two vessels were seized.

       "Enforcement authorities also detected the presence of 207 boats in Malaysian waters during 10 sighting activities," he said on Wednesday (June 23).

       Ismail Sabri also said 452 individuals arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday and were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.

       Since July 24 last year, a total of 231,882 individuals returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.

       On sanitisation of public spaces, 148 operations were carried out nationwide on Tuesday at 60 red zones, two orange and eight yellow zones.
