PETALING JAYA: Kapit Hospital in Sarawak received a total of five high flow nasal cannula ventilator machines worth RM125,000 from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

The allocation is through the zakat (tithe) distribution from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

The handing-over ceremony was conducted by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

"The ventilators were handed over by me, as the minister, as part of the implementation of the Food Basket Programme under the Pemulih initiative for the Kapit parliamentary constituency in Sarawak," he said in a statement Sunday (July 18).

The donation of ventilator machines is part of SSM's initiative to utilise the corporate tithe allocation for Covid-19 patients who are suffering from severe respiratory problems as a result of the pandemic.
