BUTTERWORTH: A lorry driver was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court here on Friday (Dec 10) after he pleaded guilty to transferring 21 cows without the permission of the Director of the Penang Veterinary Service Department (JPV) last January.
Mohd Aidil Abdul Halim, 40, made the plea after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Noor Farah Hazwani Osman.
He was charged with transferring the cows using a lorry without obtaining the written permission of the state director or any authorised persons of the veterinary services at the Sungai Bakap R&R on the northbound side of the North-South Expressway at 10.07 pm on Jan 29 this year.
The offence is punishable under Section 36(7) of the Animal Act 1953, which provides a fine of not more than RM15,000, upon conviction. - Bernama
