KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 102 foreign women working as guest relations officers (GROs) in a nationwide blitz against immoral activities over the weekend.
The women were among 163 people detained when the authorities raided various entertainment outlets under Ops Noda Khas.
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the other 61 detainees were workers at the outlets.
He said 1,133 people, including both customers and workers, were checked to see if they were involved in any criminal gangs.
“Two customers were wanted for drug-related offences.
“Various items were seized including 27 loudspeakers, 22 microphones, 18 amplifiers, 85 bottles of liquor and RM12,885 cash,” he said in a statement on Monday (June 13).
Comm Abd Jalil said the outlets such as KTV, bars, pubs and bistros provided special karaoke rooms priced between RM8,000 and RM30,000.
He said they also provided GRO services.
“The premises had back entrances for regular customers to use after permitted operating hours.
"We advise outlet owners to abide by the law as well as Covid-19 standard operating procedures during the transition to endemicity," he said.
