KOTA KINABALU: A video showing a group of people involved in a brawl at a futsal centre near here is being widely circulated on social media.

       The 27-second video showed a group of people attacking one person, with some of them who looked like teenage boys, stomping on the victim.

       Penampang OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the incident was believed to have started following a misunderstanding between a player and a supporter on Tuesday (March 15).

       “The incident happened at a futsal centre in Putatan at around 9.30pm,” he said in a brief statement on Wednesday (March 16).

       He said an investigation paper has been opened after a victim lodged a report on the matter.

       “We are tracking down several others involved in the fight,” DSP Haris said.

       He urged the public not to speculate on the case, and to let police conduct their probe.

       According to public sources, the fight started between a group of teenagers and a man, who is said to be the father of one of the victims.

       The incident was said to have sparked when the man got upset that his son was beaten by another teenager, and that he had then confronted the boy.
