Musician Nathan Olsen, who is co-concert master of the American music group, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, begins to play a sombre tune on his violin. And as the music plays, Nikolas the Border Collie throws his head back and lets out a loud, low howl that perfectly matches the pitch and tempo of the violin.
When the brief performance comes to a close, Nikolas wags his tail, seemingly happy with how his opera singing went.
An on-screen caption then appears at the end of the video, with Nathan asking humorously: “What instruments are missing from this ensemble?”
Several dog owners have posted their answer to the violinists question, with many four-legged sopranos, tenors and baritones showing off their pups musical talents.
But singing Border Collie has become the headlining act across the social media sharing site TikTok.
Nikolas' owner, Julia, uploaded her pet's Pavorotti-like performance under the username @julia.szypulska titled ‘doggo’s lament’.
Just over three weeks later, the duet has been watched over 86,000 times and gained 16,100 likes.
Hundreds of TikTokers have left glowing reviews in the comment section, sharing how surprised and impressed they were by the clip.

One viewer said: "This is the only duet I've found to sound good enough that this could fool people to think this is an actual piece.
Another TikTok user commented: "I'm not gonna lie, I'd listen to this entire album on repeat."
One person who was left so impressed by the dog' talent said: "Give this dog an opera chorus contract!"
