The Queen has held a virtual audience to present a poetry award from Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty appeared via video link to award The Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry to Mr. David Constantine on Thursday.

The Queen received Mr. Constantine who was accompanied by Poet Laureate, Professor Simon Armitage, and said: "I'm very glad to have the chance to see you, if only mechanically, this morning."

During the virtual ceremony she joked about the award: "I don't know what you do with it, do you put it in a cupboard?"

On Tuesday, the 95-year-old had announced she would not be travelling to Scotland for the COP26 meeting.

The monarch had faced preliminary tests in hospital on October 20, during her first overnight hospital stay in eight years.
