MELAKA: Six people were injured in a road accident involving 10 vehicles when a driver, who is epileptic, had a seizure at a traffic light intersection.

       “Initial investigation revealed that all the 10 vehicles were waiting for the green light when a 38-year-old man, who was at the wheel of a luxury car, had a seizure, causing him to press the accelerator pedal,” said Melaka Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department head Supt Amran@Mohamad Zaki Omar.

       This caused the car to move at speed, crashing into the vehicles in front before it stopped, he added.

       “The man then had a second seizure, causing his car to crash into more vehicles,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

       Supt Amran said the accident happened at 9.15pm on Friday at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Lebuh Ayer Keroh here. All the vehicles were at the Taman Chiptaco traffic light intersection, which is in front of a supermarket, he added.

       Six drivers and passengers were injured. One of the drivers, a 20-year-old woman, was treated for a broken nose.

       All were sent to Hospital Melaka for treatment.
