PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will "wait and see" if an election will be called in Johor.
Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the matter would be decided by those responsible to make the call.
"The talk of an election is not just for Johor. There is talk that the general election will be held soon," he said on Thursday (Jan 13).
In the meantime, Bersatu will be conducting meetings to engage with the people.
"We need the people to know who they should vote for and who can provide better leadership," said Hamzah.
Talk is rife that a state election will be called for Johor.
Following the death of Kempas assemblyman Datuk Othman Sapian of Bersatu, the state assembly stands at 28 seats in favour of the government and 27 seats for Pakatan Harapan.
Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohamad had said the state government would be evaluating the need for a state election following Osman's death.
However, Johor Pakatan has rejected the idea of having a state election at the moment, claiming it was not sensitive towards the difficult reality being faced by the people.
