PETALING JAYA: Walk-in vaccinations for Malaysians at five selected vaccination centres (PPV) around the Klang Valley will be conducted between Sept 16 and Sept 30 in an effort to optimise resources, says the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
The five PPV are Bangi Avenue Convention Centre, Multimedia University Cyberjaya, Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute Gombak and the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) HCO B in Shah Alam.
"Higher learning institute students around the Klang Valley can also get their vaccine shots at these five PPV," it said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 15).
CITF said the limit to only these five PPV was in line with its strategy to optimise its resources in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
It noted that walk-ins in other states would continue and the public were advised to follow the announcement that would be made by its respective state health departments.
As of Sept 15, CITF said there were 13 PPV still in operation in the Klang Valley while 38 non-medical PPV have closed since Sept 14.
The closure of these PPV was made after it studied the population of those in the Klang Valley who had not been vaccinated and the low attendance at the centres.
Meanwhile, CITF said individuals who have received their first dose at a PPV in Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor that have now closed could obtain their second dose via walk-in at the Klinik SP Care Antara Gapi in Hulu Selangor.
Those in Kuala Selangor can get their second dose at the Poliklinik Medi Ihsan (No 9-G, Jalan Gaya Merak 1, Taman Gaya Merak, 45700 Bukit Rotan) and at the Poliklinik Medi Ihsan (No 7-1, Jalan Makmur 1, Taman Makmur, 45500 Tanjung Karang).
The task force also said it would hold further discussions with the Health Ministry for the involvement of ProtectHealth Corp Sdn Bhd for the walk-in initiative.
"Discussions will focus on expanding this walk-in initiative for the Malaysian adult population in general practitioner clinics around the Klang Valley. ProtectHealth is expected to begin offering walk-ins at selected GPs for citizens on Oct 1," it said.
