KOTA KINABALU: The crackdown on Sabah’s biggest drug cartel is a great achievement for the police force, says Parti Warisan Information chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman.

       Congratulating the police for the arrest and subsequent charging of the suspects, he said this is something that he is proud of as the former deputy home minister.

       He said he hoped this would deter future offenders and put a stop to theft and robbery.

       “It is not an easy task taking down drug syndicates, especially with their cunning means and ability to function with local and foreign networks on illegal activities,” Azis said in a statement.

       He was commenting on the charging of 11 suspects at the Sessions Court yesterday for their involvement with a criminal organisation.

       “I urge the authorities to give more focus on identified hotspots as drug syndicates have a wide network of people under them,” he said.

       Azis said enforcement and monitoring at Sabah’s coastal borders must be enhanced due to its size and challenges.

       In doing so, he said that enforcement officials must make use of radar systems to monitor the activities of boats and vessels in the state’s waters.
