KUANTAN: Police are investigating the wedding of a popular celebrity couple held recently for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

       Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said that the police received on Monday a 41-second video clip of the wedding ceremony held at a villa in Genting Highlands, which was uploaded on Facebook.Preliminary investigation revealed that the ceremony was held at about 8.30pm on Dec 15 and the guests were not wearing face masks.

       They also failed to observe physical distancing, thus violating the SOP of Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan.

       According to Bernama, Supt Zaiham said police had opened an investigation paper after reviewing the video.

       “Police will track down and identify all individuals present at the ceremony to assist the investigation under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Area) Regulations 2021,” he said in a statement yesterday.

       In the meantime, Supt Zaiham advised the public to refrain from making any speculation regarding the incident and continue to adhere to the SOP stipulated by the National Security Council.
