KOTA BARU: A bride cancelled her wedding banquet and had her wedding pictures taken through the window of the groom’s room after he was diagnosed with Covid-19 on the eve of their big day.

Five days before the wedding, the bride’s mother tested positive and so did the groom.

Since the groom had to be quarantined in his room, the bride, bedecked in all her finery, posed for their once-in-a-lifetime pictures some distance away from him as he stood at the window of his ground floor room.

The woman from Kelantan, whose username is @sarahzahari1, recently uploaded a 51-second Tik Tok video showcasing how her wedding was affected by the pandemic.

She said her wedding was filled with challenges and hoped that everything would turn out for the better soon.

Since family members were also considered close contacts, none of the other siblings was able to return home, hence leaving her to manage the wedding solo.

She said the actual photo shoot was postponed and the wedding banquet was changed to “packed food”.

All she could do to share her joy was to distribute food to relatives and friends, who would otherwise have attended the wedding.

She also spoke of a treasured memory – how her brother, who lived nearby, coloured her fingers with orange-red inai.

She said the wedding could not be called off as both the couple’s parents had arrived.

For the most solemn part of the ceremony, the video shows the bridegroom stepping out of his room briefly to pledge his marital vows.

He kept his distance from everyone and donned his face mask.

After his vows, he returned to his room.
