Hiroshima Prefectural Police's Asakita Police Station received a report from a resident at around 11:40 a.m. that two wild boars were in a park in the Hiroshima's Asakita Ward. When officers and ward office employees tried to capture the animals at the park, five of them were bitten on the hands and legs. Another person was also wounded after falling over when they jumped off a stairway to avoid a boar. The six people's injuries were not life-threatening.

According to the police station, both boars were more than 1-meter-long, and the larger one weighed 135 kilograms. They were shot with a tranquilizer gun and put to sleep before being culled just after 4 p.m.
