KLANG: A Myanmar national who threw himself onto the bonnet of a moving car and smashing the windscreen in an apparent move to fake an accident has been charged at a Magistrate’s Court here.
Soe Mg Mg, 25, who allegedly committed the offence in Jalan Goh Hock Huat at about 12.10pm on April 7, was slapped with two charges.
The accused, who is a Burmese Indian, was charged under Section 336 of the Penal Code for causing endangerment.
He was also charged under Section 61C of the Immigration Act 1959 for not having a valid travel document.
However, no plea was recorded as there was no interpreter available to explain the charges to Soe.
Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid fixed June 3 for mention of the case as well as for the charges to be reread in Burmese to the accused by a translator.
He faces a jail term of up to three months and a maximum fine of RM500 or both for the first offence.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Ayuni Jamri prosecuted while counsel Vinesh Segar represented Soe.
Soe was arrested after the driver of the car lodged a police report after the mishap.
A dashcam recording of the incident had gone viral on the Internet, which showed a man running across the road and hurling himself onto the bonnet of a car, causing the windscreen to crack.
