PETALING JAYA: Bersatu has formed a special committee to look into the needs and raise support from Indian and Orang Asli voters in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election in Selangor on May 11.

The party’s Selangor chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said 12 portfolios have been formed at the request of the younger generation and non-Malay voters so that the machinery could look into various needs and issues.

He said all Selangor Bersatu divisions as well as elected representatives would be tasked to look after the 16 polling districts in the area.

“I chaired a special by-election meeting with the party’s assemblymen in the state.

“The discussions revolved around preparations of the machinery and I presented detailed data and statistics for each of the 16 polling districts,” Azmin said in a statement yesterday.

Azmin added that the meeting also discussed strategies and innovations to raise support from voters towards Perikatan Nasional.

He said printed materials including pamphlets have been prepared to highlight economic and cost of living issues.

“Logistics and campaign materials such as flags and banners would arrive within this week,” he said.

Five polling districts would also see an increase in machinery and efforts, he added, and the party has decided to form a special committee to raise support among Indians and Orang Asli.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu seat fell vacant following the death of its three-term assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong, 58, of DAP on March 21.
