GEORGE TOWN: A 31-year-old mechanic was killed when he was crushed by a car he was repairing in a horrific incident on Jalan Bayan Lepas on Saturday (Nov 20) night.

       State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call at about 11.55pm and a team of firemen from Bayan Baru station was deployed to the scene.

       "The man was believed to have been crushed while repairing the car at his house-cum-workshop," the spokesperson said.

       He said firemen conducted the extrication exercise by using rescue tools and the victim was finally extricated at about 1am.

       He said the victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene and the body was handed over to police for further action.

       The operation ended at 1.05am.
