PORT DICKSON: Police have detained two men believed to be Ah Long over suspicion of splashing red paint on the car of a vehicle workshop owner here.
Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the suspects, aged 30 and 38, were detained in an operation here and in Seremban on Monday.
He said the victim, 21, who admitted having borrowed money from five persons totalling RM130,000, was shocked to see red paint splattered on the windscreen and roof of his car parked outside his home in Lukut on Aug 29.
“The victim said he borrowed the money to run his workshop and had yet to make full settlement.
“The two suspects, who are also debt collectors, have been remanded until Sept 10,” Supt Aidi Sham said in a statement yesterday.
He said the case will be investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 for operating a business without a valid licence which carries a penalty of between RM250,000 and RM1mil, jail of not more than five years or both upon conviction.
The suspects are also being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and causing damage to property which provides a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both upon conviction.
Supt Aidi Sham said police seized RM1,700, two ATM cards and two mobile phones from the suspects.
