KUALA LUMPUR: Police have wrapped up the Ebit Lew defamation investigation.

       Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the investigation paper (IP) has been referred to Bukit Aman.

       "We have referred the matter to Bukit Aman to review the IP. If there are any shortcomings we will rectify it, before referring the matter to the Deputy Public Prosecutor," he told a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 15).

       Supt Ashari said police would not be calling up rapper Caprice to record his statements as he has answered police queries via email previously.

       "We are aware that Caprice has returned to Malaysia recently.

       "However, there is no need to call him up to take his statement as he has answered questions via email previously," he added.

       It was reported that the police had requested Interpol’s help to locate rapper Ariz Ramli, better known as Caprice, and Gaza Malaysia chief executive officer Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman.

       The request was made on Aug 16 to have their statements taken online following a police report lodged against them by celebrity preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, or Ebit Lew, in July.

       The police had also tried to contact the duo through email and social media platforms, but to no avail.

       On July 21, Ebit Lew lodged a police report over various allegations levelled against him by several individuals on social media.

       The case was being investigated under Section 500 and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
