Evanston police this week continue to investigate a holiday weekend shooting death of a 21-year-old man inside his home.
Police were called to the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue Saturday around 10:27 p.m. for a report of a person shot inside a home, according to an Evanston Police Department news release. When officers arrived, they found Stanley A. Butler, 21, in the residence, police said.
Butler, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, died on the scene, police said.
The initial investigation shows that multiple people entered Butler’s residence, shot him and then fled, police said.
Evanston police did not immediately return a request for additional information.
Evanston Police Department and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the Evanston Police Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) and start the message with EPDTIP.
