A man charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of an ex-girlfriend was denied bail in a Sunday court hearing.
Khmari Prince, 22, was ordered held without bail by Judge Arthur Willis.
During a bail hearing broadcast on YouTube, Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Bross said Prince is accused of fatally shooting Georgia Gill, who had come to Prince’s residence to retrieve her belongings after the end of a four-year relationship.
Prince shot Gill three times with a semi-automatic handgun after seeing her damaging his car, Bross said. One of the shots struck Gill in the head. Officers in the area were made aware of the shots fired and allegedly saw Prince running from the area into his residence while holding the firearm.
Three .45-caliber shell casings were found in the car where Gill was shot and officers recovered two firearms, including a .45-caliber firearm, from Prince’s residence, Bross said.
Bross also said Prince tested positive for gunshot residue on both his hands.
Prince’s attorney said he has a GED and has been a member of the Army National Guard since August 2017. The attorney argued that Gill had military training and threatened Prince in multiple ways, including death threats, after their relationship ended. He also argued Prince made no statements of admission and there was not enough proof that he had committed this crime.
