KAJANG: A child, believed to be five to six years old, fell to his death from the 10th floor of a police quarters here on Thursday (Feb 10) morning.

       In a statement, Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident occurred at the Central Brigade General Operations Force (GOF) quarters.

       "The child fell from the 10th floor and was in an unconscious state when he was rushed to HUKM via the brigade's ambulance.

       "Despite efforts to save his life, the victim died at 9.45am.

       "The case is being investigated under the Child Act 2001 for child neglect and as a sudden death report," he said.

       ACP Mohd Zaid also confirmed that the victim was the child of a policeman and was home alone at the time of the incident.

       Those with information on the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Faeez Norzah at 013-277 3407, or the nearest police station.

       "Do not leave underage children alone to avoid such unwanted incidents," he said.
