PETALING JAYA: A viral video of a 12-year-old boy seen asking for help at a food court and claiming his mother was trying to kill him was actually all due to a misunderstanding, says Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

       The boy was scolded earlier by his mother after an argument with a younger sibling, so he ran away to the food court, he added.

       “The incident occurred at a food court in Kota Damansara at about 8pm last Friday.

       “We received a report that the boy was abused by his mother and we took him to the nearest police station for further investigation.

       “The boy’s father came to the police station and lodged a report on the incident.

       “While there were no signs of abuse, the boy was sent to the nearest hospital for further checks.”

       ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said the police will however investigate further to determine if the boy is a victim of a criminal act.

       “We urge witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation,” he added.
