Any doubt the National Zoo’s panda cub is an anointed one may have been dispelled by a report provided Friday by the zoo.

       Recently, the zoo said, the staff needed to distract the cub, Xiao Qi Ji and his mom, Mei Xiang, so they gave the panda pair bubble bath solution.

       It is one of mom’s favorite scents, the zoo said, and it seems that when giant pandas like a scent, they rub it all over themselves. There’s a name for this: scent-anointing.

       Before long, mom and cub got well into it grappling and pawing, and soon were covered in the stuff, the zoo said. So it seemed fair to say that Xiao Qi Ji is not only 14 months old, but also scent-anointed.
