A man was shot in the back of the neck while sitting on a train at a Green Line station Thursday, authorities said.
The man, 28, was struck by a stray bullet around 6 p.m. in the 300 block of East 51st street, near the 51st Street station, police and fire officials said.
The man was not the intended target, police said.
He was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was reported to be in critical condition, a spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department said.
The Chicago Transit Authority reported delays on the Green Line for about two hours.
No one was in custody, and detectives are investigating
