A Chicago man has been charged in the beating death of a man during a home invasion last week in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood, according to police.
Ronald Armour, 41, of the 6300 block of South Sangamon Street, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated battery of someone older than 60 and home invasion causing injury, according to authorities. He was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing Thursday.
Police say Armour “forcibly entered a residence” in the 6000 block of North Kenmore Avenue on the North Side on July 1. He is accused of beating a 53-year-old man, causing his death. Police say he also seriously injured a second man, 63.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately provide information about the victim’s identity. The office originally had failed to reach a conclusion about the cause and manner of the man’s death, instead marking it pending police investigation.
Armour was arrested in the 6500 block of South Halsted Street in Englewood, police said in a news release Thursday announcing the charges. Police did not release information about the man’s death at the time.
