An 18-year-old man accused of shooting a 2-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man last week has been arrested, Chicago police announced.
Miguel Avelar, 18, of the 1600 block of North Parkside Avenue, is expected to make an appearance before a bond court judge later Tuesday.
Avelar faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of the child and man in the 1500 block of North Tripp in West Humboldt Park last Tuesday. Police said he was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the block where he lives.

After the shooting, at 7:39 p.m. July 13, the boy, who had been shot in the left leg and the man, struck in the face, were taken in a private vehicle to Amita Health Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, police said. They later were transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
The boy and the man, who police last week had said was 32, had been standing in front of the home when a “dark-colored vehicle pulled up.” Someone inside the vehicle got out and started shooting at them.
Two motorbikes and a small children’s tricycle were left behind at the shooting scene.
Details about the investigation, including how Avelar was identified as the alleged gunman, were not immediately available.
