A helicopter crashed in Prospect Heights Wednesday morning, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The helicopter crashed onto Milwaukee Avenue between South River Road and East Palatine Road around 6:40 a.m., according to preliminary information.
The pilot was taken to an area hospital and had been expected to survive.
“A Robinson R44 helicopter with only the pilot aboard crashed about a mile south of Chicago Executive Airport at 6:40 a.m. local time on Wednesday. It came to rest on Milwaukee Avenue,” FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory wrote in an email.
Milwaukee Avenue was closed for the crash investigation, not far from Wheeling’s Chicago Executive Airport.
