A 16-year-old boy was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle crash on the South Side in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was eastbound in a 2012 Nissan Altima on 59th Street near Parnell Avenue when she was struck head-on by a driver of an Oldsmobile sedan that crossed over into her lane, police said. The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was listed in fair condition.
A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the back seat of the Altima also was taken to the same hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A front-seat passenger of the Altima fled the scene on foot, police said.
A 60-year-old man who was driving the sedan was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition.
The accident appears to be alcohol-related, and the Major Accidents Unit was investigating, police said.
