A Chicago man charged with the first-degree murder of a 30-year-old Carpentersville man is being held on a $3 million bail, Kane County authorities said.
Jamar L. Robinson, 29, of the 800 block of North Lavergne Avenue, is also charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class X felony, in the shooting death of Jorge Sanchez, of the 1-99 block of Oxford Road, according to a release from Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser’s office.
Sanchez was shot around 3:15 a.m. July 29, and his body was found in a hallway of Fox View apartments, the release stated. Robinson had dated a resident of Fox View, and Sanchez was staying in an apartment next door to Robinson’s former girlfriend, it stated.
Sixteenth Circuit Associate Judge Todd Tarter set Robinson’s bail at $3 million. He must post 10% or $300,000, for bond. His next appearance in court is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Carpentersville Police conducted the investigation.
