Man, 31, killed in Back of the Yards shooting; 2 injured by gunfire outside Avondale bowling alley

       A 31-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting in a parked car in the Back of the Yards neighborhood early Friday, according to Chicago police.

       The man and a woman were in a parked vehicle in the 5200 block of South Ashland Avenue when another man approached the vehicle on foot about 2:15 a.m. and fired shots, striking the 31-year-old, police said.

       The woman, who was not injured in the shooting, drove the car to the 7600 block of South Chicago Avenue and police responded. The man was transported to University of Chicago Medicine and pronounced dead with multiple gunshot wounds to the body, according to police.

       Elsewhere, two people were injured in a shooting outside an Avondale bowling alley in the 2200 block of West Diversey Parkway about 1 a.m. Friday.

       A 28-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were standing in the parking lot when they were shot, police said. The woman was hit in the left leg and was taken to Rush University Medical Center in fair condition, and the man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital also in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg and arm, police said.

       At least two other people were shot Friday morning, and both refused medical attention, according to police. After 8 p.m. Thursday night, an additional five people were injured in shootings across the city, police said.

       In the Cabrini Green neighborhood, a 39-year-old man was stabbed Thursday night about 9 p.m. during an argument with another man on the 800 block of North Sedgwick Street, according to police. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, police said.

       There is no additional information, and police are investigating.
