A 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot in Little Village was one of two people killed in a little more than an hour Tuesday night, Chicago police said.

The teenager was standing near the sidewalk in the 2500 block of South Harding Avenue at 7:17 p.m. when he was approached by two men he didn’t know, according to a police notification. One of the men pulled a gun and started shooting, officials said.

The boy was shot in the head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. He was identified Wednesday morning as Christopher Arredondo, of the 5500 block of Whipple Street, according to information from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

About an hour earlier, police were called to the 300 block of East 131st Place at 6:08 p.m., according to police.

A 28-year-old man had been standing on the front porch of a home in the Far South Side neighborhood of Eden Green when someone shot him multiple times. Authorities responded and the man was pronounced dead at the location at 6:22 p.m.

He was identified as Deontea Jones, of the 900 block of the same street where he was killed, according to information from the medical examiner’s office.

Area detectives are investigating the unrelated homicide cases and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
