A Marine Corps recruiter assigned to Lake County has been charged with child pornography possession, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
James R. Wallace, 35, turned himself in Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, authorities said. His bail was set at $500,000, prosecutors said.
Wallace is a Rolling Meadows resident, and was assigned at the Great Lakes Naval Base, officials said.
Prosecutors said their cyber crimes unit received a tip earlier this year that led to the investigation of Wallace, who is a Marine staff sergeant.
A police search of Wallace’s mobile phone turned up illicit images and video, according to prosecutors. He is due in court on Sept. 9.
