Three people were killed in separate traffic crashes about four hours apart Tuesday night and early Wednesday, according to Chicago police.
A man and woman riding a motorcycle Tuesday evening died after crashing into a car that was traveling in the opposite direction, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The 30-year-old man was riding a motorcycle with a female passenger Tuesday at 8:50 p.m., headed north in the 1600 block of East 95th Street in South Deering. The crash occurred when the motorcycle hit a silver Chrysler Pacifica that was traveling south and was making a turn on 95th.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:21 p.m., according to information from the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which had not provided information on the man’s identity early Wednesday.
The woman on the motorcycle was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said. According to the medical examiner’s office, the woman, whose name and age were not released, died at the hospital at 9:20 p.m.
A 26-year-old woman was driving the Chrysler SUV with two passengers, an 18-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, police said. They were not injured.
Police are investigating the crash, and there are no pending citations.
The other fatal crash happened in Lakeview, about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. A 29-year-old man was traveling south with another man in the 3600 block of DuSable Lake Shore Drive and lost control of his vehicle. The car flew over the outer curb and crashed into a light post, killing the driver.
He was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office, which had not identified him as of Wednesday morning.
The passenger, a 27-year-old man, had “minor injuries,” according to police, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. Police are investigating.
