Police say a motorcyclist apparently lost control during a lane change Saturday, causing a fatal crash in central Lake County.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek on Tuesday identified the motorcyclist as Daniel McPherson, 21, of Round Lake Beach.
McPherson, according to the sheriff’s office, was driving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday on Rollins Road, west of Route 45 in Avon Township.
He was eastbound on Rollins when he made a lane change and apparently drove onto the gravel shoulder of the road, where he lost control of his motorcycle, authorities said.
Authorities said McPherson was thrown from his bike. When police found him, he was not breathing and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
