One person was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting incident that occurred in Prince George’s County early Wednesday, the county police said.

       The gunfire broke out about 10 minutes after midnight in the 1800 block of Metzerott Road in the Adelphi area, police said.

       All five of the people who were shot were described by police as male. No ages were given immediately for any of the victims. The four people who were wounded were expected to survive, based on preliminary accounts, police said.

       The incident remained under investigation early Wednesday morning, and information about who fired the shots could not be learned. No motive was given.

       The 1800 block of Metzerott Road is in a mainly residential area, between New Hampshire Avenue and Riggs Road. It is about a mile south of the Capital Beltway. It includes both woods and parking lots.
