A 10-year-old boy who was in a traffic crash in the Clinton area in late August has died, officials said.

       The boy died Sept. 3. He was identified as Pedro Gutierrez Gonzales, of Clinton. He was a passenger in a vehicle, according to Prince George’s County police, and the driver remains in the hospital and is in stable condition.

       The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 in the 11500 block of Piscataway Road, a few miles from Indian Head Highway in the Clinton area.

       An initial investigation found the vehicle was headed south on Piscataway Road near Mary Catherine Drive when it went off the road and hit a tree, police said. Officials said it is not known why the driver went off the road.

       The crash remains under investigation.
