A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash in the Adelphi area.

       Montgomery County police said the crash happened around 2:25 p.m. near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive.

       An initial investigation found that a motorcyclist was headed south on New Hampshire Avenue when he collide-d with a Toyota Corolla headed in the opposite direction. The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

       The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

       The name of the motorcyclist was not released, pending the notification of his family. The crash remains under investigation, police said.
